Three Things You're Not Doing to Engage on Social Media

These days, most businesses are probably already aware of how important social media is to building your brand, attracting new customers, receiving feedback, and growing customer loyalty. Try these three tips to help get the most out of your social media marketing:

1. Post content worth engaging with. Remember that there’s a lot of competition for your customers’ attention out there, so if you want to drive engagement, you’ve got to reach out and grab them! This means posting valuable content that people want to read and interact with, using images with every post, asking questions for readers to answer, and even encouraging your social media followers to like, comment, and share. Most of the time, simply asking is enough to do the trick.

2. Respond to all comments. One of the best ways to drive engagement is to make your social media followers feel engaged themselves. This means following up and responding when someone interacts with your social media account. It doesn’t have to be in-depth or take up a lot of your time, as long as the response is appropriate and makes the user feel seen. A simple “thank you for your comment” is often enough.

3. Do unto others. The key word in social media is “social,” and one of the simplest ways to grow your followers and build engagement is to give engagement back. It’s not always about you, in other words. While you’re on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or wherever, be sure that you’re also engaging with posts from other users by liking, commenting, or sharing posts from others, especially when those posts align with your business or the interests of your prospective customers.
